About

What do we do?

The Better Business Partnership is a regional council project designed to improve the sustainability of businesses on Sydney's North Shore.

We aim to save businesses money, improve their environmental performance and promote and recognise their sustainable actions.

We do this by assisting businesses to reduce their energy and water bills and their waste. Businesses can also look at opportunities to support their local community and staff and switch to sustainable transport and purchasing options.

Our vision

Our vision is to have an active and engaged small to medium sized business community across the region that implements and values sustainable business practice.

Our objectives

1.            Enable small to medium sized business in the region to implement change to improve sustainability performance.

We will do this by enabling better business understanding of:

  • current resource use
  • impacts
  • costs
  • solutions

We will facilitate:

  • action
  • access to schemes and subsidies
  • promotion of good business practice through the media and recognition schemes

2.            Create an ongoing relationship between the community and small to medium sized businesses.

We will do this by:

  • promoting local stories and actions to the community
  • recognising those businesses who implement sustainable actions
  • creating an environment in which consumers and shoppers actively encourage their local businesses to become more sustainable and choose to support those businesses who implement sustainable practices.

Who are our partners?

The Better Business Partnership is run in partnership with Ku-ring-gai, Lane Cove, North Sydney and Willoughby City Councils in order to maximise reach, build relationships and ensure effective delivery of opportunities and solutions to business.
